The Real Aspect

I'm through with it all,
I just want it to go shoo,
With the world all blue,
Caused by all the issues,
Everyone thinking it is fabulous,
When all it is, is a crevice,
Filled with lies,
That everyone buys,
But in the end,
We all are friends.

Mead says "As a people, we Americans greatly prize success." which I do believe in. Everything she says in her analysis is true in their own ways. Mead says we as Americans celebrate and achieve success for what we care or do and don't pay attention to other people that is not in the group we are competing in. They are not a threat so they don't matter as much as the guy doing the same job as you. This seems to be true as I think of it.
A example of it in my life is in school. Most students in each grade try their hardest to be on top. I know I try to be the best but it is never enough. I don't care about anyone in 10th grade because I am not competing against them only my fellow class mates. Even if you don't realize it, it is in everyone's life. At offices people try hard to be on top against co-workers so they can have more than they already do.
Most Americans try to be able to live the American Dream. The white Picket fence with a nice house, a wife and kids, and a nice job. The American Dream I think is what drives people to do this. It is what makes them want to be the best of the best job with the nice house, wife, and kids. It keeps them going through the hard times. Its like being in a tunnel and see in the end where you know it is fresh air.

Final Essay

In today's society, our lives are all practically online because we put it on their. You walk around on our phones stuck in a virtual world that we seem to prefer over the real world. We like to know what our friends are doing and how they are. The internet allows us to be able able to obtain that information from where ever we are. That is exactly why it keeps us entertained and interested in it all the time. The internet allows us to control what people know and lets us create another us. There are good and bad things about having a virtual self, but that is only a small idea in this bigger concept which is the internet it's self.
Some people that don't feel safe from the real world use the virtual world as a place to escape and be themselves. The internet allows them to connect to other people that like the same stuff and treat them better then people in real life. But this is not the best thing because it makes them anti-social and lets them re-create themselves and makes a fake person of themselves to impress people online. After a while they believe that their virtual self is the real them but in reality it isnt, it is something they made up to escape from the people they should be socializing with. Personally I am a person who spends many hours of my time online because I like meeting new people and I do also make a virtual me. But in my case i do act the same in the real world and the virtual world because I combine both to keep myself.
There are different aspects of the internet like some people think it is making our children of the future grow up on phones, tablets, and computers. That is true but the internet is where the real world is going. There are a lot of jobs that are moved to the internet and allows companies to be formed without the employees to even know each other in real life. An example of that is I know a game studio that is making a game and half of the team hasn't even met in person. They us a program called "Dropbox" to share all of the files and they have the majority of the game done. Usually you would go into the office and sit next to the people you are working with. That is all changing as the internet grows. This changes people mentality of waking up in the morning getting ready and going to work. Then working at home in your pajamas is added to your virtual self which makes life easier but takes away from social interactions.
The internet is the best thing for the 21st century because it allows us to learn so much so easily. The internet lets us create a virtual self which then allows us to do what you want under a alias. What you do under it is what makes the internet wonderful. It allows you to learn many things like playing musical instruments, knit, code, build stuff, make stuff, draw, and etc. For me personally I have learned so much on the internet it still amazes me. I have learned how to code in HTML, some Javascript, and bits of pieces of other things. I have learned how to host servers do to the masses of libraries about it along with many other things. I have been able to build my own computer by ordering all the parts, host my own website and email server from my computer, and then able to make multiple websites that I had coded myself.
I'd say in about 20 years almost all jobs will involve the internet. Many people that make money online from their virtual self live off of it. Personally I make $500 a month but I know people who make $10,000 or more a month by doing what they do online. That is one of the good parts of having a virtual self, being able to make more money than you would usually would in real life. The down side is that it takes away from their real life which is important but it doesn't take away from a social life because they still talk to friends online because it is so easy to come together.
There is another part of  our virtual selves which involve video games. Video games allow you to think and also learn while having fun. As Sherry Turkle's "Who Are We?" she mentions a teen named Tim playing SimLife. He says

Stream of Consciousness

I was born on October 24, 1997 in Los Angeles, California. I was born inside of the Children's Hospital. It was 3:24 am when I was born. I love my family, 2 brothers and a mother and father, and all my cousins. I love technology in general because of the way it works. I love seeing everything work together as you build or just use it. I also love playing video games.

I have done many things in my life that I have loved. I have done 500+ community service hours within 6-8 grade. I had only stopped due to the fact that the program I was doing was shut down do to funding. I missed it and made a lot of different friends from around the city. In the program we went all over LA and helped people and it changed me as a person because I saw how bad some places were like Skid Row. We went to help organize the clothes they were going to give out and I just saw how bad it was. To this day I see everything differently than before.

I see myself as a person who likes to help and wants to learn a lot but I change from one thing to another without fully understanding the first thing I tried to learn. I like to learn a lot of different things that most people don't seem to want to learn like how to design and code websites and code in general like HTML, CSS,  scripting, etc. I love looking at what I have made and done on a finished website and actually use it.

When I think of my future I like to see myself as either a Computer Science major or a Computer Engineer  major, maybe even major in one and have a minor in the other. I love seeing the inside of computers and looking at how they move and react to each other in unison. Due to me liking it I had built my own computer from the parts and have had it for a year in January and I love seeing it because my brother said that I would mess up and that it would be a waste of my mother's money but once I got it working my told him to his face that I was able to do it and laughed. He just made a face and walked away.

That practically sums me up. I have not done much but I am happy with it. I wish to do more but I just seem to get lazy at times.

What is an American?

An American to me is a person who believes is everything that America was based off of and wants the best of it. An American to me is a person who cares and wants what is best for this country. Some are born here or came from another country to have a better life. Some of those people who migrate want to be an American so they to can be or do what they want without having restraints on them from there old government. They believe in everything that American is based on and want to live by those beliefs.
When I think of an American person I usually think of a white man or female living a house in the middle of America but for some places that is not what it is like. There are cities like New York and Los Angeles where they are all these different types of people who are from places all around the world some born in the US and some that were not but they all still live here and want to be free to do what they want like saying what they want about anything. These people want to be an American so they pay money and take a test to be an American. But what does a test prove? It just shows what you know and studied, why not learn how they are and what they believe in and not just simple question like what is the 18th president? An American is a person who can study and remember stuff an American is someone who believes in everything that the founding fathers thought of because that is what makes us different and what makes American the place to go and the place to be for freedom. Not trapped under the thumb of the government.
I think that a person who claims that they are an American should be able to tell me what the main problems in America are at that moment like right now with the problems with Obamacare and also the attacks of the drones in the Middle Eastern countries. They should know what is happening in the country they say they are proud of living in. People need to know what is happening in there own country. It is kind of sad when a person does not know big news that might affect them.
